A Disciple is Not Above His Teacher

The path of the disciple is shaped by the Master’s path.

Jesus teaches that disciples should not expect a better road than their teacher: maturity is becoming like him, not surpassing him.

24 "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord.

25 It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!

Luke 6:40

40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

John 13:16

16 Most certainly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither one who is sent greater than he who sent him.
