About Jesus Text
Jesus Text is a small reference site for reading the teachings, parables, and life events of Jesus as recorded in the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Its purpose is to make the shape of his teaching and ministry easier to see, read, and revisit in context.
What you will find
- Teachings presented as short, self-contained sayings and instruction blocks, each anchored to clear Gospel references.
- Parables treated as complete stories, with links to where each telling appears across the Gospels.
- Events that trace the narrative of Jesus’ life, especially moments of decision, conflict, suffering, death, and resurrection.
- Structured summaries that allow you to skim familiar passages, recognise well-known sayings, and revisit those that have become vague or hard to place.
What this site is not
- Not a commentary, sermon archive, or platform for debate.
- Not a replacement for reading the Gospels in full.
- Not a new translation or paraphrase of the biblical text.
- Not an attempt to force the four Gospels into a single harmonised narrative.
Sources and scope
Jesus Text deliberately limits its sources to the four canonical Gospels. It focuses on the words and actions of Jesus as witnessed in those texts, without drawing on later epistles, commentary traditions, or doctrinal synthesis.
Scripture quotations are from the World English Bible (WEB), a public-domain English translation. This allows the Gospel text to be presented clearly and consistently without licensing restrictions. More information about the translation can be found at worldenglish.bible.
Possible future directions
The site is intentionally small and focused. Over time, it may grow in careful ways, depending on usefulness and feedback.
- Reading journeys that group related teachings or events into guided paths (for example, major teaching blocks or the final week).
- Lightweight study aids such as printable overviews or saved reading lists.
